We are providing you with the following information regarding our policies to ensure you have a safe dating experience and to allow you a mechanism to report harmful or unwanted behavior.

Background Checks

My Mindful Match does conduct criminal background checks on our members. We use commercially available services to provide those criminal background checks. While we believe those background checks can be very helpful, we cannot guarantee the accuracy and reliability of those services. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that a bad actor won’t slip through our system. For this reason, we recommend you read this safety information and any other safety information we provide or offer to you so that you can take steps to protect yourself. In addition, you can help your fellow members by reporting any harmful or unwanted behavior to our Safety Center so that we can take appropriate steps to make sure all our members observe appropriate behavior. If you meet someone outside our system, we suggest you consider obtaining a criminal background check on a potential match before you meet them in person. There are various sources for these background checks.

Mechanisms for Reporting Harmful or Unwanted Behavior

We offer multiple ways for you to report any harmful or unwanted behavior by a member or to report any incidents which you believe violate our policies.

If we receive a complaint regarding harmful or potentially harmful or unwanted behavior, we will investigate the complaint to determine if a member has violated our standards of conduct. If we believe a person has violated those standards, we may take any of the following actions:

  • Notify the offender and remind them of their obligations to observe our standards of conduct and notify them that repeated violations may result in termination of their membership.
  • A notation of the violation may be made in their account files.
  • More serious violations may result in a member’s membership in My Mindful Match being cancelled.

  • My Mindful Match will comply with all required mandatory reporting laws to the extent they are applicable to My Mindful Match.

  • To the extent a member has been harmed by any other member, My Mindful Match will cooperate with any legal action taken by any members who have been harmed. (This obligation will not apply in the event My Mindful Match is a party or reasonably believes it may be a party to any such legal action or related legal action.)

Safety Advice for Communicating Online and Meeting in Person

  • Be careful what you post online.
  • Use reputable websites, although keep in mind that scammers are on these as well.
  • If you develop a relationship online:
    • Research the person’s photo and profile.
    • Ask questions. If a person seems too good to be true, they probably are.
    • Beware if you are asked for inappropriate photos or financial information. Do not send money to people you meet online and have never met in person.
    • Be suspicious if the person fails to show up for multiple attempts to meet and always has an excuse.
    • Consider obtaining a background check on the person you are going to be meeting in person.
